Systems and procedures to control scrap disposal
Our client was a well known engineering group who had never checked the systems and procedures to deal with scrap disposal. It rapidly became apparent that malpractice existed, scrap was not segregated, the market price was not monitored, in some cases the Contractor was paid to remove the scrap! The Contractor’s weighbridge data was accepted without any random sampling of their accuracy. In other cases cash payments were accepted in breach of the financial policies of the Group. There were immediate benefits from changes to the systems and procedures.
